"Tempered by Memory Large Maquette I" is a captivating preliminary design for the memorial "Tempered By Memory". The final design was a collaboration with esteemed American sculptors Noah Savett and John Van Alstine.
Created in 2011, this maquette is one of nine preliminary models developed by Noah Savett for the monumental "Tempered by Memory," which is publicly displayed at High Rock Park in Saratoga Springs, NY.
The creation of all the maquettes was the precursor to the final collaboration between Savett and Van Austin, including several disagreements and even a physical altercation, before the artists found harmony in their creative process. This journey of conflict and resolution is reflected in the powerful design of the final 911 monument.
